Client: Pluspetrol Peru Corporation

Field (Type): Camisea (Gas & Condensate production; Onshore Peru)
Objectives:
- The client wanted to rebundle two centrifugal compressors as part of the ongoing development of the asset to meet current duties (lower wellhead pressures)
- The newly rebundled compression trains would move from 2 X 100% operation to 2 x 50% with load sharing
- The client wanted to review the new compressor bundles maximum capacity performance in preparation for the revamp work
- The client also wanted to clarify their understanding of load-sharing controller algorithm which will be used for the first time with the operational changes
Challenge: The key driver for the rewheeling of two compression trains was the declining pressures of the Pagoreni reservoirs.
Our Engagement: Eta was engaged as Engineering Consultants because of its unique gas compression expertise and understanding of the client’s asset portfolio.
Approach: compressor performance analysis, modelling, and simulation
Stake: Inability to fully ascertain that the revamped compressors had the capacity to fulfil the new duties. Lack of technical assurance and peace of mind of the seamless transition to load-sharing control.
Results:
- The ability of the newly rewheeled compression trains to meet the new process duties was successfully demonstrated for the client’s benefit
- The expected as-installed performance of the rebundled compression trains was successfully quantified
- A clear demonstration of how the load-sharing controller algorithm should work was successfully made for the benefit of the client

Sodi serves as our Managing Director and Projects Director. He has management and technical oversight across our offices. He graduated from the University of Sussex, UK with a first class MSc in Turbomachinery. Sodi has a track record of successfully managing production optimization and field development studies for major oil and gas companies internationally. He is an expert in gas compression and integrated asset modelling with more than a decade experience. In his career, the value he has provided in these areas has led to significant decisions which have provided immense production and project benefits for several operating companies. He has previously held senior roles including Head of Projects and Management Team Leader in a reputable engineering consulting firm from which he left to start up Eta Energy Solutions. He has also in previous roles, led software development teams in developing bespoke integrated asset modelling software. Sodi is a Chartered Engineer, professionally recognized by the Engineering Council (UK) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is also a professionally recognised member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He speaks regularly and presents technical papers at international oil and gas conferences across the world.
