Hatfield West Gas Storage Development Study*
Client: Scottish Power
Field (Type): Hatfield West (Gas Storage; Onshore UK)
Objectives:
The client wanted to carry out field development conceptual study to select the optimum development strategy for a redundant reservoir
The client required engineering modelling and simulation of the existing and proposed new facilities
The client wanted to establish indicative requirements for new wells, pipelines, rotating machinery, and their spares.
Challenge: The driver for this study was to increase the injection and storage capacity of the facility to improve project economics
Our Engagement*: We were engaged as Engineering Consultants because of our integrated asset modelling and rotating equipment expertise.
Approach: Identification of system bottlenecks. Integrated asset modelling and simulation.
Stake: Potential failure to get the best out of high value gas storage asset and consequent lack of economic benefits
Results:
Successfully recommended optimum development strategy for redundant reservoir in order to expand gas storage capacity of overall complex
* NB: Some projects may have been performed by consultant in previous roles.
